Energy Star Appliances: Some Are Not Efficient As They Claim

Some consumers who have purchased home appliances with the “Energy Star” efficiency rating may not have received the appliance they bargained for.

Sheller, P.C. is investigating a potential class action lawsuit involving appliances that were labeled to sell with an "Energy Star" efficiency rating, but in fact did not qualify. Energy Star appliances are generally required to use 10% to 35% less energy than standard models, depending on the type of appliance. Manufacturers of Energy Star appliances typically charge a premium above the price of standard models.

If you purchased any of the appliances listed below, and you would like to discuss your legal rights, please contact us at 800-833-2299, or visit us online at www.sheller.com

Government regulators determined that the appliances listed below did not qualify for an Energy Star rating, despite being sold with an Energy Star label:

Gee, I wonder why trial attorneys have a bad name.

Fist of all, anyone who knows anything about the Energy Star program knows it’s a joke. The public is duped into believing that they are purchasing a high-efficiency appliance, when in reality, they are purchasing an appliance that complies with a convoluted government-sponsored testing program.

The testing labs make a fortune, the appliance companies benefit in the form of high appliance prices for “efficient” appliances, and now trial attorneys make some cash by suing appliance makers. Wow, what a country!

Don’t you think this wrong should be corrected. There is no one else policing what you yourself admit has dupped the public. If a hard working attorney spends 100’s of hours to prove the company has ripped off consumers and gets those consumers compensation should that attorney not be compensated for their time, years of experience and education.
If you work for an appliance repair company and you repair a defective product or a product that is badly made you get paid for your time.If you know this is a rip off you should do something to right the wrong rather than crying sour grapes about the world.

The wrong that you speak of is the national Energy Star program that has been created to make consumers feel better about their appliance purchases. Fix the program, don’t sue to manufacturers.
It’s called a shake down, and it happens all the time. An attorney files a class action suit on behalf of consumers who purchased the products. In the case of Energy Star, the standards are so convoluted, with enough testing and re-testing, anyone can show that the appliances missed the mark in one area or another. Instead of fighting the case in court, the manufactures settle. The purchasers receive a pittance while the attorneys make millions.
