Artelon Spacer Cases Now In Mass Tort

Comments Off

Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas Judge Sandra Moss has decided that all personal injury cases involving the faulty Artelon Spacers be treated as a mass tort.

The decision represents a victory for individuals who have sufferend injury and pain since having these medical devices implanted in their hands for the treatment of osteoarthritis. Because this case has been designated as mass tort, individuals are encouraged to retain counsel and present the facts of their own case.

The Arleton Spacers were designed to treat osteoarthritis of the hand, by implainting a T-shaped plastic gauze between the trapezium bone and the first metacarpal bone at the base of the thumb.

Complaints about the Artelon Spacers have including burning, inflammation, misshapen thumb, and loss of range of motion in the hand. Some patients have reported the spacer has broken after being implanted.

If you or someone you know has an Artelon Spacer and has experienced pain or injury to their hand that may be related, contact Sheller, P.C. at 215-790-7300.
