Sheller P.C. has released a new resource entitled “12 Facts About Xarelto Lawsuits,” which highlights key information about pending Xarelto litigation and new lawsuits being filed against the drug’s manufacturers.

The helpful guide points out that Xarelto – a prescription blood thinner manufactured by pharmaceutical companies Bayer AG and Johnsons & Johnson – does not have a known antidote to stop excessive bleeding once it begins.

As a result, many Xarelto users have reportedly suffered from severe internal bleeding which in many cases led to serious injury or death.

Victims of severe bleeding injuries who took Xarelto are now filing lawsuits against the drug’s manufacturers alleging that these companies knew about significant risks associated with the drug, but failed to warn the public of those risks.

Quick Facts About Xarelto Lawsuits

Xarelto was initially approved by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) in 2011 for preventing blood clots in patients undergoing knee and hip replacement surgeries.

However, the drug has received FDA approval for several other uses since then and is now approved for six total indications.

Due to its touted benefits over traditional blood thinning medications including its convenient one-size-fits-all dosage, Xarelto quickly became the leading blood thinner in its class in America.

The blood thinner has been prescribed more than 11 million times in the US since its initial FDA approval.

However, recent studies have linked the drug’s use to uncontrollable internal bleeding which can result in serious injury or death.

Xarelto users have reported several different types of internal bleeding injuries including gastrointestinal bleeding, brain hemorrhages, rectal bleeding, pulmonary embolisms, epidural hematoma, stroke and heart attack.

Now lawsuits are being filed by individuals and families throughout the country who may have been harmed by Xarelto.
