Some children’s face paints have been recalled after reports of adverse skin reactions, such as itchiness, burning sensation, rashes and swelling in areas where the paint was applied. The recalled paints are cosmetic "Face Paint" items distributed by Oriental Trading Co. of Omaha, Neb. These face paints were primarily distributed to retail stores across the country between April 2008 and April 2009. The adverse event reports all came from exposure on the same day at an organized event. FDA laboratory testing of the products showed significant microbial contamination in most of them. Anyone with these paints should immediately discard them.
